So, I've got about apparently about five to six minutes.

ㄴ저에게는 5~6분 정도의 시간이 있습니다.

 

to say the most useful things I can think of

ㄴ제 생각했던 것 중 가장 유용하다고 생각했던 것을들 말씀드리겠습니다.

 

It was just that I still things down to 3 items.

ㄴ그 내용을 3가지로 요약해보았습니다.

 

I think I`ll go with four.

ㄴ아니, 4가지정도가 될 거 같네요.

 

I think these are pretty important ones.

ㄴ이 내용들은 꽤나 중요하다고 생각합니다.

 

Some of it may kinda sound like 'well you're heard them before?'.

ㄴ'어디서 들은 거 같은데?'라고 느끼시는 분들도 계실겁니다.

 

but, it's worth re-emphasizing

ㄴ하지만 다시 짚고 넘어갈 가치가 있습니다.

 

I think the first is you need to work.

ㄴ첫번째는 '당신은 일을 해야한다'라는 것입니다.

 

 

If you, depending on how well you want to do.

ㄴ얼마나 잘하고 싶은지에 따라 다르겠지만

 

particularly if you want ot start a company

ㄴ특히, 창업을 혹시나 고려하고 계시다면

 

Work super hard.

ㄴ미친듯이 일해야할겁니다.

 

So, what is super hard mean?

ㄴ미친듯이 일하는 게 뭘까요?

 

Well, when my brother and I were starting our first company.

ㄴ형과 제가 처음 회사를 시작했을 때

 

instead of getting an apartment, we just rented a small office and we slept on the couch.

ㄴ아파트를 빌리는 대신 사무실을 빌리고 소파에서 잠을 잤습니다.

 

and we showered at the YMCA.

ㄴ그리소 샤워는 YMCA에 가서 했죠.

 

We're so hot up.

ㄴ정말 치열하게 살았습니다.

 

We had just one computer.

ㄴ컴퓨터도 고작 한 대뿐이었구요.

 

So the website was up during the day and I was coding at night.

ㄴ그래서 낮에는 웹사이트 작업을 하고 밤에는 코딩을 했습니다.

 

7 days a week, all the time.

ㄴ일주일에 7일, 쉬는 날은 없었죠.

 

So I briefly had a girlfriend in that period, in order to be with me. she had to sleep in the office.

ㄴ그래서 그때 잠시 만났던 여자친구가 있었는데, 그녀는 저와 있기 위해서 사무실에서 잠을 잤어요.

 

So, work hard like. Every waking hour.

ㄴ그 정도로 정말 열심히 일했습니다. 깨어있는 시간만큼은요.

 

That's the thing I would say.

ㄴ이런 말씀을 드리고 싶습니다.

 

And I mean, if you do the simple math, somebody else is working 50 hours a week, and you're working 100.

ㄴ그러니까, 간단히 계산해봐도 남들이 50시간 일할 때 당신은 100시간을 일한다고 하면요.

 

You 'll get twice as done as much done in the course of the year as the other company.

ㄴ당신은 다른 회사들이 하는 것보다 두 배의 일을 끝날 수 있겠죠.

 

The other thing I'd say is that the most important thing is to 'attract great people'
ㄴ제가 강조하고 싶은 또 다른 것은 훌륭한 사람을 많이 모으는 것입니다.

 

 

So either be with, join a group that's amazing that you really respect.

ㄴ그들과 함께 하거나 존경하는 사람들이 있는 그룹에 참여하세요

 

I mean, all a company is a group of people.

ㄴ회사란 결국 사람들의 모임입니다.

 

That have gathered together to create a product or service.

ㄴ그들이 함께 모여 제품이나 서비스를 만들어 내는 것이죠.

 

So depending upon how talented and hard working that group is, and to the degree in which they are focused cohesively in a good direction.

ㄴ그 그룹이 얼마나 재능있고 열심히 일하는지, 그리고 그들이 얼마나 응집력있고 올바른 방향으로 집중하는지

 

that will determine the success of the company.

ㄴ그것이 회사의 성공을 결정할 것입니다.

 

So, do everythinig you can to gather great people. If you're creating a company.

ㄴ훌륭한 동료를 모으게 위해 모으는 걸 하세요. 만약, 창업을 할 거라면 말이죠

 

Focus on signal
ㄴ신호에 집중하세요

 

 

A lot of companies get confused.

ㄴ많은 회사들이 이 부분을 어려워합니다.

 

They spend a lot of money on things that don't actually make the product better.

ㄴ그들이 돈을 쏟아붙는 곳은 사실 제품의 개선과 거리가 먼 곳입니다.

 

So, for example at Tesla, we've never spent any money on advertising.

ㄴ테슬라를 예로 들면, 저희는 광고에 돈을 쓴 적이 없습니다.

 

We've put all the money into R&D and manufacturing and design to try and make the car as good as possible.

ㄴ저희는 모든 돈을 최대한 더 좋은 자동차를 만들기 위해서 연구개발과 생산 및 디자인에 투자하죠.

 

I think that's the way to go.

ㄴ그것이 회사가 추구해야할 방향입니다.

 

So, for any given company just keep thinking about "Are these efforts that people are expending are they resulting in a better product or service?"

ㄴ즉, 어떤 회사 간에 "사람들이 쏟은 이 노력이 더 좋은 제품과 서비스를 이끌어내고 있는가?"에 대해 계속 고민해야합니다.

 

And if they're not, stop those efforts.

ㄴ그리고 그렇지 않다면 그 노력들을 중단해야합니다.

 

The final thing is 'Don't follow the trend'.
ㄴ마지막으로 트랜드를 따르지말라는 말을 하고 싶습니다.

 

 

You may have heard me say that it's good to think in terms of the physics approach.

ㄴ아마 물리학적인 사고로 접하는 것이 중요하다고 하는 말을 들어보셨을 거라고 생각합니다.

 

the first principles.

ㄴ기본 원칙들로 말이죠.

 

Which is rather than reasoning by analogy, you boil things down to the most fundamental truths you can imagine.

ㄴ비유를 통해 결과를 추론하는 대신에 여러분이 상상할 수 있는 근본적인 진리들만 남깁니다.

 

and you reason up from there.

ㄴ그리고 그걸 기반으로 추론해나가는 거죠.

 

and this is a good way to figure out.

ㄴ그리고 이건 현상을 파악하기 좋은 방법입니다.

 

if something really makes sense or if it's just what everybody else is doing.

ㄴ이치에 맞는 일인지 아니면 다른 사람들도 하는 평범한 일인지 말입니다.

 

It's hard to think that way you can't think that way about everything. It takes a lot of effort.

ㄴ이건 어려울거고 모든 것을 그렇게 생각할 수는 없습니다. 엄청난 노력이 필요하죠.

 

but if you're trying to do something new, it's the best way to think.

ㄴ하지만 무언가 새로운 걸 시작하고 싶다면 이게 가장 좋은 방식입니다.

 

Now is the time to take risks.

ㄴ지금이야말로 위험을 감수하기 좋은 시기입니다.

 

As you get older, your obligations increase.

ㄴ나이가 들수록 여러분의 의무는 늘어납니다.

 

So, and once you have a family. you start taking risks not just for yourself, but for your family as well.

ㄴ가정이 생긴다면 스스로의 위험을 감수해야할 뿐 아니라, 가족의 위험도 감수해야하니까요.

 

It gets much harder to do things that might not work out.

ㄴ실패할 것 같은 일을 하기 더 어려워지는 것이죠.

 

So now is the time to do that. Before you have those obligations.

ㄴ그러니 지금해야합니다. 그런 의무들이 늘어나기 전에 말이죠.

 

So I would encourage you to take risks now.

ㄴ그러니 기꺼이 위험을 감수하시길 바랍니다.

 

 

Do something bold.
ㄴ과감하게 해보세요

 

You won't regret it.
